Accredited quality, small groups, pleasant environment
The formation of NBS Northern Business School – University of Applied Sciences was initiated in 2007 by companies and trade associations within the metropolitan area of Hamburg. It offers its students two possible ways to receive a university degree: They can study either part-time while working at a company (the lectures then take place on evenings and Saturdays) or traditionally full-time on weekdays.
All courses are organized in seminars and lectures. In contrast to many public universities, the students do not study in crowded lecture halls, but in small groups. This forms the basis of the support and personal dialogue with the lecturers and fellow students.
Our cornerstones are good teaching, individual support, small learning groups, a modern learning environment and a friendly working atmosphere. The employability of our students and a solid academic foundation are our declared goals.
Study Centers
NBS Northern Business School is divided into two study centers – one of them is located in Hamburg Wandsbek, a district in the east of the city, one of them in Hamburg Barmbek. The study centers offer air-conditioned, quiet rooms as well as state-of-art technology (e.g. SmartBoards and free Wi-Fi).
The study center "AlsterCity" is located in Barmbek Nord right next to a canal and lots of green areas. On your course schedule the abbreviation "ACY" shows you that the lecture will take place here.

The study center "Quarree" is located on the third floor of the shopping mall "Wandsbek Quarree". To get to the study center, please use the elevator in the main stairwell of the Quarree II (the part of the shopping mall where shops like "Karstadt Sport", "C&A" and "H&M" are located). When you reach the third floor, you face the entrance of the study center. On your course schedule the abbreviation "QUA" shows you that the lecture will take place here.
